Facilitating a natural young artist

Drawing can even help with a child’s brain development, as we all know that Children have numerous creative and entertaining ways of keeping themselves busy. Drawing is by far one of the less complicated and most interesting activities for children. However, kids’ drawing doesn’t just have to be a hobby. If you put a little effort into it, you can encourage your children to develop their drawing skills, which will help develop their creativity as well as their social skills. Our Children’s Art Classes can help children express themselves creatively, become more organized and communicate better.  Arts & Craft Classes, will include sticking down mosaic tiles and cutting up organic and recyclable meters. These activities are great for recreation and art therapy, also our classes are focused on teaching children how to observe and draw how to visually communicate and facilitate a love for art and art history.

How do I sign up my child for art lessons?

What do we need for our first lesson?

  • Sketch Pad/Drawing A4 or Typak A4

From which age do you teach?

The best age to start is from age 6 on wards. However, by 7 years old your child would have developed the motor skills required to write. This allows them to progress with the fundamentals of drawing rapidly. This being said we have often assisted children to develop these skills through art.

What is the structure of the children’s art classes?

We have one artist teacher in residence that will be teaching the children. To view, our talented crew read more here. Once a month the children will have Pottery, Mosaic arts and Drawing taught by Elvis Lekgetho. Once a month they will have a Drawing class presented by various artists instructing them on painting and the 4th lesson for the month is focused on large projects and also be taught by Elvis Lekgetho. This allows the kids to develop holistic, 2D and perception with Drawing, 3D thinking and tactile skills with Clay and other elements planning and working towards a goal with Projects and Painting Skills.

Am I allowed to sit in on children’s art classes?

We regret that we do not allow parents to sit in on classes. We have found this distracting to the students. Parents also tend to correct their children during the creative process, the studio needs to be a safe space for them to create. If your child is still a toddler (Age 6), you can sit with them for 5-10 mins just to get them to relax, but after that, we kindly request that you slip out of the class and allow them to progress on their own.

How do your terms work?

  • Term 4: Oct, Nov, Dec
If you would like to start mid-term you can.
